Nature, Ecology, and Natural Sciences

Founding Principles

The natural world not only provides us with all we need, it keeps us alive.  Understanding how it works, interacts, and how we interact with it is crucial for making important decisions that affect our lives and the lives of everything around us.  Science gives us the tools necessary to not only maintain ourselves but to improve our surroundings.  Science allows us to build better, faster, and more efficiently as well as tackle the ills of the world.

Math, Physics, and Geometry

Hard Sciences

Mathematics, even at the most rudimentary level, are needed for everything from paying bills, to measuring boards, to making change for a customer.  To be able to insure students are able to tell if their money is being spent or invested wisely, they need to understand math.  Learning physics is important for anything from vehicle design to video game design.  Geometry is useful in both the arts and sciences.  From measuring out cloth to mapping out designs, geometry and algebra can help students have a grasp not only that something works, but why it works.

Sports, Health, and Physical Education

The elimination of walk-around towns has lead to a sharp decline in physical activity and health in Americans compared to other countries.  Understanding the importance of physical activity for mind, body, and creativity can help students to consider what physical activities they find appealing and can develop an interest in for a lifetime of good health and productivity.

Life Skills:  Caring for Self and Family

Adult life skills include all the things needed to be able to take care of oneself and others.  Whether starting off in life, raising others, or caring for elderly parents, being able to understand how things work and how to build, shape, and create within one's own space is valuable whether you are building a home, setting up an office, or being a part of a project on a space station.  Life skills are survival skills and ones that are used in a multitude of professions.
